It is twenty-two years before the Battle of Yavin, and the galaxy is at war.

Born to a not unimportant, not important planet in the Inner Rim, Rain never placed much thought into his future. After all, the galaxy is vast, and peaceful living should not be hard to find. Two decades later, armies are marshalled, and warships grace the stars, propelled aloft the wings of war.

Armed with the knowledge of nine movies, Rain is forced into joining the galactic conflict. On the losing side.

Came for Star Wars, Stayed for Space Strategy

Reviewed at: Chapter 24

Man this is good. Like really really good. My guilty pleasure is fanfiction but I don’t even need to feel guilty for loving this. If you want an expansive, intelligent, and fascinating look into Sci Fi warfare in the Star Wars universe then look no further. I honestly want a galactic map with named systems, borders, and fleet icons like this is stellaris; that’s how much I’m into the strategy that the author is putting into this. Great job. The clone wars tv show was great, but it was missing the overreaching strategy involved in a galactic war (not a criticism, there’s no way they could have smashed it into thirty minute episodes). This story does a great job of scratching that itch. It stays true to the universe it takes place in while adding in new interesting characters/events that have made me realize that I have no idea what’s going to happen next. It’s great, you should read it.

This is a space opera through and through, you can expect grandiose battles political maneuvering, fighters and ground battles. The author managed to somehow explain most of the utter nonsense that is the sw universe, new and expanded lore is a matter of course. The mc is smart but not unbelievably so, he is well developed and written.

amazing, breathtaking, astonishing, just great

For a fanfic, this is amazingly well written and while it is based off an already pretty fleshed out universe, it manage to deliver a completely new story to it. The details, consistency of the chapters, story, plot, character description, the politics of the star war universe and so on are all really well done.

Simply Outstanding

I have read to the most current. Personally I like the star wars universe, but not love it, but my nerd flag runs strong. Imagine my surprise when this isekai fanfic story grabbed me and sucked me in, & i now love it. Well written and somehow to me the story has become more than just a star wars fanfic isekai story, those things have just become a small note or guiding rails that we readers & the author use to enhance the story. To me the star wars universe & characters are now background setting that our story develops in, the characters that we know of from other fiction in the universe are there to give us that dopamine hit, but its the treatment and great writing of them i love. The story somehow feels like it is making me a detective to figure out not just the military side of things, but also how is the existing lore going to be impacted? Despite the galactic setting somehow this story also includes elements of the small personal stories that draw msny people to the original work. Overall the author has done amazing work and i can't wait for more.

This is awesome, well-written content with engaging strategy and a novel viewpoint.  Rain has understanderble and sensible views for any not force-sensitive officer in this realm.  I would love to see it as its own animated series to run counterpoint to clone wars.

By far one of the best fanfics on RR right now!

Making Star Wars make sense

Reviewed at: Chapter 60

Having been disappointed in Star Wars releases for many years now, I only gave this story a chance because I still love the universe, but the author then proceeds to write the best SW I've read outside maybe some of the extended universe comics.

The MC has the amazing advantage of common sense in the SWU, and a yet to be explained minor power that just helps counter a bit of the force shenanigans, which makes his accomplishments feel real and earned.

The MC has an actual education, useful background, and still makes the occasional relevant mistake. He has competent people around him and sometimes even listens to them.

Most characters are either fleshed out through their own point of view, or involved often enough to feel like real people. They often have their own things going on, making it feel like the universe moves even when the MC isn't around.

If this was a 'real' book I would rate it around 8/10, but it's a RR five for sure!

I can't recommend this book to action junkies, but if you want something damn solid, that manages to ram a common sense MC into SW without breaking either, and you enjoy slow burn politics, betrayal, and empire building, this is for you.

One of the best Star Wars fan fictions that I have found.

Over all Very well written and continuously entertaining.

Seeing things from the separatist side is a fresh perspective as well as seeing the droids in a more intelligent light.

I honestly can’t wait to see how the MC makes a difference in this very big universe.

The novel is amazing. It does a great job of portraying sector-wide battles and space-movement to a level of detail I haven't see before. The characters are extremely well written and their tactical/planning decisions have great effect in terms of the star battles. The novel is about much more than just jedi or the sith, as the MC is thrown into nearly unwinnable situations and manages to either make it out by the skin of his teeth, or rely on others to help him in his times of most need.

The space battles are one of the coolest parts of the novels. Seeing how they implement mind-boggling tactics against jedi fleets and overwhelming firepower were very enjoyable, along with the opposite perspective viewing the MC as an exceptionally trained and skilled opponent. Despite the huge scope of some of the battles, the narration and progression of events keeps it grounded and entertaining as the ships cross millions of klicks of space, or when some 50+ mile long destroyer suddenly warps in and changes every plan the MC had lined up.

The multi-pov's and progressive story as more battles are fought is fun to follow along with, and seeing how the MC's actions and presence develops canonical lore events is also very entertaining.

A great novel about space operas and the star wars universe.

It's amazing. One of the greatest stories I've read. Easily stands as the best fanfiction written and one of the greatest on RR. The plot is wonderful, taken in quite a delightful way.

But for me, the thing that stands out most are the characters. They are without a doubt, one of the smoothest and clean characters written. They each have their own motivations, preferences, and conflicts. Even able to sympathise with the antagonists, well, at least some. (Spoilers for the end)

Order 66 was a magnificent arc. Which this moment, was when I realized I loved the characters I've come across. Yes, the Rain (MC) had managed to save hundreds of jedi. But it hurts, the death of the other thousands of jedi, which we've only known a dozen or two. I was lamenting at Plo Koons death. On edge during the Temple assault, praying for Shaak Ti. Immense relief for Obiwan. An immense loss at the split of the remnants of the Jedi order. Pity for Anakin. Hope for Scout. Uncertainity at the future, but wishing for a great future. I felt emotionally beaten, but revitalized nevertheless.

I cannot speak for grammar, because my grammar is terrible. As far as I saw, there were no grammar mistakes, don't take my word for it though.

All in all, wonderful. I legitimately believe it falls into the top 1%. It is a 10/10. Now let me go cry in my corner, in agony as this masterpiece had ended.

Stick with me for a bit, this will be a long one.

At first I started reading because I just needed some new stories to tide me over for my main stories to update. Atleast, at first. I proceeded to very quickly fall in love with the story and author. I was doubtful that this would be good, thinking it just another bad star wars AU, where they miss out on details and other things. But... BUT! this blew me out of the water. I got a character who comes from one of the least mentioned parts of the galaxy, with a condition so rare it is almost never mentioned, using details from not one, not two, but countless sources of Star Wars lore and games.

I am a very emotional reader, with my past reviews for things like Road to Mastery showing a clear theme. But this, this has not just connected to me as a reader, but as a fan for Star Wars. Everyone has always wondered, what if someone knew? What if someone actually knew about Palpatine's plans? What if I was there? What if I was in the Star Wars universe? And while Rain Bonteri may not be you, and he may be wouldn't do the same things you would, he did his best, and damn was his best enough.

While I am disappointed that it ends after only 100 chapters, I am hopeful for this author's side stories, and greatful that they took the time out of their day for us

Thank you.. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this well loved masterpiece. And good luck in the military, I hope you get to write more in the future.
