When a phone or the big screen drops off
Sleeping phones, reloads, a second tab, a big screen that goes dark, and Wi-Fi that will not let the game through.
The game itself runs on our server, not on any one screen, so a phone or a TV dropping off never ends it. Every screen is only a window onto the table, and a window can be opened again.
A phone that sleeps, or goes to another app
Your seat, your hand and your score are held for the whole game. When you come back to the tab, the phone reconnects on its own and catches up; you may see Reconnecting… for a moment.
The clock does not wait for you, so nobody else has to. When you are choosing a card, one is already chosen for you, and the phone says so (“plays itself at 0”); if time runs out, that card is played. When guessing, a guess is picked for you at 0.
A reload, or a closed tab
Open the same link again, on the same phone and in the same browser: the phone remembers your seat and puts you straight back in it, without asking your name again. A browser that keeps nothing between visits (a private window, or site data switched off) cannot remember the seat: you come back as a newcomer, and the host can remove the old seat.
Two tabs, or two phones
The newest screen is the live one. If you open the game in a second tab, the first one says You are playing on another device and stops. If you join again from a different browser once the game has started, you arrive as a watcher; your first seat is still yours, and the host can remove it if that phone is gone for good.
The big screen drops off
The big screen can reload at any time: open the same page on the same screen and the table comes back where it was, clocks and all.
If it is gone for more than ten seconds, the game pauses: it would rather wait than play the reveal to an empty room. Guessing is the exception; that happens on the phones, so its clock keeps running, and the pause comes when the reveal would begin.
If the big screen stays away, after a minute the host role passes to the first player at the table whose phone is connected. Their menu then offers Continue without the board: the phones show the table themselves, and the game goes on.
Wi-Fi that will not let the game through
Some guest, hotel and school networks block the kind of connection the game uses, or cut it after a minute. If phones cannot join, or keep reconnecting:
- try the phones on mobile data instead of the Wi-Fi;
- or share one phone’s connection as a hotspot and join the big screen to it.
The room was not found
A room ends two hours after the last move, and sooner if nobody ever sat down in it. A link from an earlier evening leads nowhere; start a new table from the front door.
The table is full
A table seats up to sixteen. Anyone else who arrives can watch on their phone, and take a seat if one frees up.
