Words the game uses
The big screen, the host, the storyteller, bluffs, house players and the other words FlickerTale uses, each in a line.
- The big screen: the TV, laptop or tablet everyone looks at. It is the table, where the cards are turned over and the scores shown.
- The code: the five letters on the big screen that a phone types to join the table.
- The host: whoever runs the game. The screen that set the table is the host at first; the role can move to a phone.
- Seat: your place at the table, with your name, your companion and your colour. A seat is held for the whole game, even if your phone drops off.
- Companion: the little creature that stands for you on the big screen.
- Storyteller: the player who picks a card and gives the clue this round. Everyone takes a turn.
- Clue: what the storyteller gives for their card: a word, a line of a song, a sound, a feeling. They can type it or say it out loud.
- Hand: the cards on your phone. Nobody else sees them.
- Bluff: the card you slip in to fit the clue, hoping others guess it. It scores for every guess it draws.
- Guess: your choice of the card you think is the storyteller’s. Tapping a card picks it; confirming sends it, and you can still change it until the clock runs out, unless the rules have turned that off.
- The reveal: the moment the cards are turned over one by one on the big screen, bluffs first and the storyteller’s card last.
- A card from the deck: an extra card nobody played, shuffled in by some ways to play. A guess on it scores nobody.
- House player: a seat the computer plays. Some think with Claude, an AI. See house players.
- Watching: following a game on your phone without a seat, for someone who arrives after it starts.
- Ways to play: Classic, Quick, Party and Relaxed, each a set of rules the host can choose before the game. See the rules reference.
- Pace: one setting that makes every clock longer or shorter at once.
