What FlickerTale keeps

What a game holds while it is played, what your phone remembers, and what leaves our server.

Very little, and nothing that says who you are. Privacy and cookies and storage say exactly what, where and for how long; this page is the short version.

During a game

To play, each person types a name (any name, a nickname is fine), chooses a companion and a colour, and the storyteller types clues. Our server keeps these, with the hands, the cards played, the guesses and the scores, only to run the game. Your hand is shown only on your own phone.

At the end of a game, the evening’s best clue can be drawn as a picture, with its painting and no player’s name, that the table can share: anyone given its address can open it until the host switches sharing off or the room closes. The host can switch it off at the end of any game. Privacy says how the clue is checked first.

A game is deleted at most two hours after its last move, and sooner if nobody ever sat down. Nothing about a game is kept afterwards.

On your phone

Your phone keeps your name, your companion and your seat in its own storage, so a reload puts you back in your seat. There are no accounts, no adverts and no trackers.

House players and Claude

A house player that thinks with Claude sends Anthropic the rules of the game, the round’s clue, and the pictures and descriptions of the cards that seat can see. It never sends anyone’s name, the scores or the room’s code. See house players.

Notes you send

The Leave a note form asks for your words and nothing else. A Report a problem note also carries the room’s code, the moment in the game, the site’s version and your browser’s description of itself, all shown on the form before you send it. Please do not put anyone’s personal details in a note.
